BAGEL
BAGEL is ByteDance Seed’s unified language-capable multimodal model for visual understanding, text generation, image creation, and editing. It uses a mixture of Transformer experts with 14B total and 7B active parameters, combining semantic and pixel-level image encoders with interleaved multimodal training. Image questions and language reasoning make it eligible alongside its generative visual capabilities. Apache-licensed weights and inference code were released on May 20, before the later May 28 Seed blog. The model is fine-tuned from Qwen2.5-7B-Instruct with additional vision components, and can be run locally or evaluated through its demo.
